Yes,more than half of the population of Iran are under 30, and of those the vast majority are pro American and want closer ties with the US. The old clerics still remember the US deposing their Prime Minister in 1953 http://www.globalpolicy.org/empire/history/2000/0416ciairan.htm
so they still hold a grudge against us. But the young Iranians don't remember and have a different idea about being friends with us. Bush, with his PNAC agenda for US domination in the Persian Gulf, is poisoning this potential, as he and Cheney would love to engage them in battle to further their plans. The US/Bush, from the perspective of those who live in the Middle East, is committing genocide on their fellow tribesmen, all in his pursuit of the control over the oil in the region. This will not improve our relationship.

In a social life similarities maybe yes, but we are not on same page with International crisis all over the globe. The Iranians speak out with more hatred (genocidal - more then military conflict only) agendas versus US making threats to attack to those verbal warnings which alerts imminent dangers. That I support any US President or other Country leaders to take those threats at face value.

Iran is defintly not our ally, They wanted Saddam gone and they got there wish, now they will start a war of there own to take over Iraq. So basically Bush got us in one big mess now The middle east is totally unstable without saddam in power. I mean Saddam was more of a threat to his people then to ours. I wish Bush would talk with the president of Iran, in order to stop war you must talk to your enemies to resolve conflict. Now Iran is building nuclear power and weapons and they want to ultimately be a superpower in the middle east. This is a war of who is the most powerful in the middle east. We are going to be fighting terrorists(Made up of Shites & Muslims) for a long long time prepare for the Holy War.

Why would they be allies....the USA has been messing in their internal affairs since the 1950's
We supported Saddam Hussain in his war with the IRANIANS in the 1980's. do the body count on that one
Remember when our FUMBLING NAVY shot down their civilian airliner killing 300?
George W Bush has created a situation where IRAN can get some payback......in IRAQ. Do you blame them
The USA foriegn policy is a disaster and we deserve to suffer for it.

No. Their religious objectives are contrary to the highest ideals of our country. However, the Persians who were conquered by the Arabs but still exist in Iran in surprising numbers would be excellent allies.

Not since the Ayatollah decided that he and his country could invade US soil and hold US citizens hostage. We should have fried their country then.
