I heard of horror stories of people staying all night and putting in an 80 hrs work week. In the end, is it worth it? I mean you can get a job that pays a little less but only requires 40 hrs. Do they get an incredible amount of money?

With most salaried jobs you can expect to work more than 40 hrs/wk. There are times when you may have to work late into the night or even go in on the weekend, depending on the work load, projects, deadlines, major issues, etc. That's just the way it is, unfortunately. If you are a good time manager, you can avoid a lot of the pressure, but the expectation is that the job needs to get done, whatever it takes.

If you work for a company that appreciates hard work and dedication, you will most likely be compensated in the way of bonuses, stock option grants, etc. But most companies do not pay overtime for salaried workers.

If you love your work and feel valued as an employee, it will be worth it. But to work like that and not be happy? Not worth it!!

Good luck!
