go to a auto center like autozone or napa, they usualy or almost always have a book you look your car up and it will tell you every light and its serial number in the book, then they have a huge selection of bulbs and you find it.... or just ask a employee for help and they will find it for you.

The center brake light uses a 912 bulb.
The rear running light / brake is a 3157 bulb.
Both are available at any parts store and even in the auto section of places like Wal-mart!

Go to your local parts store or to your Mercury dealer and buy a new bulb there. It'll be cheaper and quicker.

If you have a manual, check it for the correct part number. If not go to walmart or some other comparable store, and go to the auto parts section. Usually you will find a small computer device that will ask you several questions about your vehicle, (year, make model) and then it will give you replacement part numbers. It will take some removing of interior panels to get to the fixture but its fairly simple

Bulbs are the same for all cars, if you go to your local car parts shop they will have one for about 20 pence, and if your nice they might put it in for you.

I think you have to go to an auto shop, because isn't that behind the glass on your dash board and I don't think you can open it due to the fact you can change the miles you drove etc...
***Also go to a dealer that sells Mercurys***
