It is best I believe to go with climate rather than base your decision on current weather conditions, as the weather tends to be closer to the climatic conditions.

The climate throughout Laos is monsoonal. There are three distinct seasons with some variations between north and south. In general, it is wet between May and October and dry between November and April.

The cool dry season - occurs from November to January. In the Mekong valley, temperature can drop to around 15 degrees Celsius and the mountain temperature drop to zero degree Celsius or lower at night. Humidity is low at this time of the year and the most visitors consider it the best time to travel to Laos.

The hot dry season - follows through May. And toward the end of this period, there is high humidity and thunderstorms. Temperature can reach 35 degrees Celsius.

The wet season - generally lasts from June until October. It is typified by a consistent pattern of low clouds and rain. Flooding occurs along the Mekong River and some tributaries.

The average rainfall in the capital Vientiane is 1,700 mm, although in the north of Laos and the highlands it is wetter, with more than 3,000 mm each year.

the current 5 day forecast for Vientiane is as follows:It will be clear each day.

78° F | 57° F Wed
26° C | 14° C
77° F | 57° F Thurs
25° C | 14° C
75° F | 55° F Fri
24° C | 13° C
77° F | 55° F Sat.
25° C | 13° C
84° F | 64° F Sun.
29° C | 18° C

I don't think the climate in laos has changed much.. i was there for a while in december and it was the same as always warm and comfortable.. i think you should wait for the acutal rainy season to come around. i too must travel to vientiane around the start of the rainy season for family reasons...
if you go enjoy your stay!!

track, you're smarter than this. The physics is uncomplicated: CO2 is a physically powerful absorber of infrared and it reradiates it lower back to earth. The greenhouse effect is what keeps us from this earth being a frozen ice ball. further atmospheric CO2 only provides to this effect and make the planet warmer yet i like to think of it as climate disruption, no longer international warming, nor climate replace. we are able to adapt. however the greater we do now to mitigate it and adapt to it, the greater valuable. Btw: i genuinely like the corn guy's answer above me. Very humorous, whether he did no longer intend it to be quite so humorous.
