Have a blood test done (call the doctor). It is more sensitive that a urine test and can give you a definite answer.

A good question. I have just been there.

First off it doesn't matter what test you use. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to show on a pregnancy test. The reason is when an embryo implants in the uterine wall it takes some time for your body to react to it, and then to start producing hcg, the hormone of pregnancy. Don't worry yet.

You can check out lots of available info online. Yahoo health has a pregnancy site. WebMd is another great site.

Go to the doctor and have a blood test done. If you still show negative then you might not be pregnant. But if your period still hasn't started then you might have something wrong. I would talk to your doctor.

Also as a side note - stress can make you late.

Alot of Dr's tests are meant for testing after a period is late. Your preggers :) Wait about a week and go back in for another test. The early result tests over the counter pick up a lower concentration of HCG than most dr. offices. p.s. baby #6 I got a positive at home. Went to planned parenthood to confirm (same day) and she said it was neg. I said try again, so she did another and said that too was neg. I asked to see the test and had to actually point out the faint line to her.

It's possible that you still don't have enough hormones in your system to show positive, but by 1 week past your period, you really should be showing at least a faint positive on the tests.

Make an appointment to go to your doctor for a blood test. That will give you a definitive answer in about a day. Good luck!

I would say you are not pregnant. I took 4 test while I was trying to conceive and they never lied. 3 of them told me I wasn't, 2 days later I got my period. a month later no period, pregnancy test, and bam I really was pregnant. I found the EPT test to really be EP! Good luck. You can always go get a blood work done to be 100% sure!

sometimes your body doesn't produce enough of the hormone HCG, so when that happens the urine test will show negative. The sure way to find out is to call your doctor and have a blood test done. good luck

This is one of those things that you can not hurry. At one week late it is too soon for your hormones to register on a test. That is why positive means yes and negative means maybe. Wait till six weeks after your last period to take a test. Till then, try to get your mind on to other things. Good luck.

It could be because your period is changing it's cycle. I mean mine does it. The first time it did it to me I was scared and took a test but it said it was negative. This time I did it I wasn't worried but I went for a test anyway and it said positive. But it can be because your not pregnant and your cycle is just changing.

For a few women HCG (pregnancy hormone) never shows up in urine only in blood, so the urine test would always be negative. Go to your doctor and ask for a Beta HCG pregnancy test. Good luck!

Some women don't produce large amounts of detectable HCG. You need to make a Dr's appointment to go in for a blood test.
