“There exists an emotional void within contemporary American middle-class culture, into which troubled teenagers can easily pour their most grotesque and often rage-filled fantasies. Their parents, even when at home, seem disconnected. One of the problems is that these families spend most of their time, including meals, in front of the television. There is also suspension of all conviction leading to the bland, sad air of many of these kids. Adults have no meaningful cultural nourishment for filling the empty imaginations of their children, nothing to give order to their chaotic, unformed selves. For middle-class kids, a generation richer than any in human history, the predicament is grim. Setting out on the search for human meaning, they see adults staring vacantly at the ground.”

god i could be here all day but here are the top ones
first off they are stupid schools and teachers are not teaching our kids enough to be smart intelligent ppl they dont get alot of homework nor do they have alot of class work some of what my 7th grader is learning i learned in 5 grade
second parents are not being parents
they let their kids do what ever they want have no rules no consequences and just are a lazy bunch of video game playing brain damaged shells
just think when these kids grow up they will have no work ethic and wont even be able to balance their check book let alone our countries budget

Some parents have quit raising their kids and let TV and everyone else do the raising. There are still some kids that have good parents but I think there is a lot who just don't know how to be a parent

Lack of discipline. Which is really a problem with the parents, not the kids. Kids behave in the boundaries they're offered.

younger kids not teen-agers...their parents need to discipline them..time outs are wonderful. i use the "time out for the toys...if the kids are fighting over a toy the toy gets a time out...if they continue to fight the kids get a time out . one min for every year of there age
i see too many kids controlling their parents and the parents giving empty threats

Most of the parents think its cute when their children act dumb. Recently... a friend of mine who has a 4 year old kid were shopping ... the kid just got hold of a glass jar and threw it on the floor .... she praised him for being so strong .... I dont think they are getting smarter ....

They're lazy. I'm a teenager, so I am justified in saying this. Basically, most of us just don't want to get up and do anything physical, so we sit on the couch and get fat. At least, some of us do.

my opinion is: the kids today are let down by their parents who were let down by the drug inspired parents of the 60s and 70s. kids today often(not always) lack respect toward themselves and adults, are lazy, rude, inconsiderate, destructive, spoilt and overly demanding.

I think they are given too much, too soon and have nothing to look forward to. Eg: My daughters 7 year old friend just got her first mobile phone!!! WHY????
