Yes. The 2 week notice is only a courtesy, it's not mandatory. I've yet to hear of a company firing someone and giving them a 2 week notice.

Sure.
Whether you SHOULD depends on how formal the job is. If I'm working at Burger World, a verbal notice sounds fine. If I'm working at a law firm, something more formal is appropriate.

It depends on where your quitting and if your leaving on good terms how good your relationship is with that company. But employers like to see it in writing.

It's not formal until you write it down on paper and hand it to HR/your boss, just as an offer of employment is not formal until you get a letter stating you've been offered a position.

No-You have to give written notice to terminate employment-that's probably in your terms of employment. You could just say "I quit" and walk out,though.....

I've never done it any other way and I've done it literally hundreds of times. I'm being serious. All you have to do is give your immediate boss the word and it's done.
