Hi there, firstly ignore all of what IVAN R has typed, seeing as he is referring to windows XP service pack 2, and you are running windows 2000 Pro!!! Secondly, XP2K refers to any utility that is designed for windows 2000 or windows XP. The utility that is failing is probably the installer for the wireless card. If you obtained the drivers for the wireless card on a cd, make sure you are logged into 2000 as the local administrator, as any other user may not have the access rights to install software. If this doesn't work, you might want to check the manufacturers website for the latest win 2000 driver, this is particularly relevant with linksys, as they often update and tweak their drivers, and the ones included in the box are often already out of date! If none of the above works, and you really do have a program running called xp2k, try control+Alt+Delete and open the task manager, go to active processes, and xp2k would have to be shown, then simply end task. However, I would be surprised if it exists, and if it does, it's probably the file that's installing the wireless card in the first place. Hope that helps :) IT@Tonicweb.co.uk

Hello,
(ANS) If you have downloaded & installed WinXP SP2 correctly, i.e. installed it without any major problems. SP2 should have an unistaller file that comes with it, you should be able to uninstall the entire content of SP2 and it should leave XP in the pre-service pack condition i.e. equivalent to SP1.
**I cannot see why SP2 should prevent the installation of a wifi network card though, that really makes no sense? unless XP gave you very precise error messages as to why?
**I've just looked and within windows XP folder, the service pack should have a folder called "spuninst" and within that folder you should see x3 files as follows:-spuninst.exe, and spuninst.inf and, spuninst.txt,etc.
**Run the file "spuninst.exe" inside the SP2 folder (sub folder called spuninst) should start the removal of SP2.
**END NOTE: you may be required to log into XP as a power user or administrator on the local machine in order to have enough permissions to un-install the SP2. But it depends which user profile it was installed under? (hope that makes sense?).
Hope that helps?
