Fine point! Lol
I guess they'd be coming out with expletives like 'I love you' or 'Have a great day' or 'That's amazing!'... but not really meaning it.
But then we'd have to change the name of the ailment to "Americettes".

Language is learned. If that person never came into contact with "swear words," they wouldn't have them to use. The tics people speak of are the most common thing but I've heard Tourettes sufferers sort of making noises, too. Not just blurting out words, as most of the jokes would have you believe.

People can only repeat what they hear and learn, and that includes Tourettes sufferers.
Having Tourettes does not mean that you will cuss uncontrollably. In fact, it (Coprolalia) occurs in very few TS patients. It is the most misunderstood symptom. Unfortunately, it has been sensationalized and used for cheap laughs. Sad really.
So the answer is, no.

Only ten percent of Tourette's syndrome sufferers have verbal tics , which include swearing. They would still blurt out words not swear words.

Of course not. Unless they came up with their own swear words, but they wouldn't count as they wouldn't be recognised by everyday people.
That's a bit like saying 'Do you think a French baby who hadn't heard English would start speaking English?'.

the swearing is a response to a nervous spasm and is not related to the syndrome . if you accidentally burn your hand while using the cooker what do you say ?
whatever you would say would probably be what you often repeated if you suffered tourettes .

Did you see Tourette De France a few weeks back? Most of them swore, they shout things that they know is wrong but the more they try to forget about the word the more they need to shout it. On the TV some Scottish man shouted "wiggly c**t", was funny but i wonder where he heard that from??
