I really enjoy going to gigs and have a wide ranging taste in music. My favourite gigs of the last year were The Who at T in the Park, We Are Scientists, Flaming Lips, Kasabian, The Killers, Brian Wilson and Ben Folds.
If there was one band you would recommend I see in 2007 above all others who would it be and why?

I saw The Killers last year too - they were great.
I would recommend seeing the Jethro Tull Acoustic Tour, I'm going and it will be great. They are a great band of highly skilled musicians and a back catalogue going back to the late 60s. The supporting artist Anna Phoebe is a fantastic musician too.
I have seen them before it was the best concert I had been too. I plan on seeing them every year from now on.

You already answered your own question, man. The Lips are always worth seeing. Phish is not the Grateful Dead of this generation, the Flaming Lips are. They give the people what they paid for each and every time.

Other than that, Modest Mouse has a new album in March, I think, and should be touring to support it. They have high energy, are strange/funny (don't spend a lot of time talking but do spend a lot of time playing) and are a great live band overall. Every song is executed well. They would be worth seeing as well.

I would recommend trying to get to see Motley Crue. I saw them in 2006 and they not only played a blinder but put on such an entertaining show - like a twisted circus! I know some people will probably think they are past it but I think they played better than ever, they were tight and energetic.
I would love to see Muse live - they are supposed to be amazing!

If you are Dundee based, you MUST go and see The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.
Although Alex has been dead for almost a quarter of a century, the band has regrouped and is going down a storm wherever they play because they are simply superb.

My musical interests vary wildly, too...best concert I ever went to was Santana in late 60's, Pink Floyd around the same time came in 2nd...(what I can remember about it lol) Try Trans-Siberian Orchestra for a taste of something different...cheesy but captivatingly so...good luck!

I saw the scissor sisters recently and it was like one huge party. It was great with this wonderful friendly atmosphere. They were even better live and Jake reached every note. The best gig I have been to and I have been to a few....

I saw Iron Maiden at manchester in December 06 and they were awesome! They played some fantastic tracks, old and new, and the special effect of a tank rumbling up behind them and their mascot, Eddie, coming out of the command port was awe inspiring. I'll see them again as soon as I can!
