My best trip
My best trip was at the end of October last year when I spent 2 weeks in Nice with my partner.
We rented a small apartment for the two weeks which probably cost more than booking a package holiday but we much prefer to be independent and stay somewhere on our own rather than in a hotel.
The weather was really good while we were there, very hot and lots of bright sunshine. We did have a couple of days of rain right at the end of the holiday but it was still much warmer than it would have been at that time of the year in Glasgow, our home town.
I have lovely memories form all the photos I took when we went walking around the area and when we went on a trip to Cannes and to Monte Carlo to see how the ‘other half’ live.
We chose not to hire a car for our stay even though we can both drive. We decided that neither of us wanted to drive on the ‘wrong’ side of the road and that we would enjoy our holiday more not having the stress of driving.
One of the highlights of the holiday was a trip of the miniature train that goes through a very narrow part of the old town, so near to the open air restaurants that you felt as thought you could just reach out slightly and take the food from their tables! We had a meal there another day and watched other people ride by and watched their faces as they went by.
We took a trip to the top of the old town and the view from there is fantastic, you can see all along the miles of coastline and at night you can see all the lights of the town.
There seemed to be hundreds of restaurants and various other places to eat so mostly we ate out and cooked only a very few times. The local speciality is fish but all the food we had was excellent although we did find that Nice is expensive compared to the UK for everything.
Our apartment was very close to the sea front which has a long promenade that is used by pedestrians, cyclists, skaters, baby buggy pushers and dog walkers – to name but a few. There was a separate are for the pedestrians but a lot of the cyclists and skaters ignored this so you needed to keep a sharp lookout for them if you didn’t want to be killed!

I stood on the Sermon of the Mount and marvelled that I was actually standing where Jesus had walked two thousand years previously. I closed my eyes and visualised him. The feeling of peace and love was tremendous. I had come to Israel, the land of milk and honey to see for myself just what type of land it was. This was a trip of a lifetime. The day after I travelled to the Red sea area of Eilat and soaked up the sun. I thought of Moses and his exodus to Israel. I wondered how he could have parted the sea. I then went to the Dead sea and floated, one can't sink here, amazing. As I flew back into England, I did appreciate the greenery of the land but memories of my trip to Israel will be with me for ever.

The best trip was of five years ago when I went to visit mount carmel. It was a very nice experience for me.
There were lots of friendly people who spoke at me, and I did not understand them since it was not my language. I couldn't sleep at night with the noises in there, but Although the environment was not nice I liked the people.
I hope to be back there soon I have lots of friends from there.
