If you are a non UK or even EU resident on holiday here in the UK for an extended period of time ( 6 months ) and want to get some contraception in this case the Nuvaring, how do you go about it? Obviously she has no doctor here in the UK. Can anyone help?

Please don't argue for condoms or any different contraception, there are very good reasons why she wants Nuvaring. Am trying the family planning route but not able to get through so far. Thanks

She could try a brook advisory service, available in most cities. I think you can buy nuvaring online. see link - it can be shipped to the UK without a prescription.

I asked my GP about NuvaRing in UK and it is not yet available on prescription here - even for uk residents. It is widely available in Europe- as you know- but she didn't know when it would be available here at all.

If you are not a British Citizen or an EU citizen exercising their treaty rights, then you have no entitlement to NHS treatment, even a doctor's appointment. You could try a private doctor in London perhaps, or contact a Family Planning Clinic (look in the Yellow Pages or www.yell.co.uk) and ask them if it is possible to buy the product privately.
As per the previous poster's reply - why not buy condoms? I'm assuming this person is not here on holiday with her partner, so presumably needs contraception in case of a sexual encounter. Condoms are the way to go - for so many reasons!

A Family Planning Clinic or even any doctor's should be able to advise what can be supplied - but what's wrong with buying condoms while you are here?
