How do you teach sanity in an insane world?

sanity is a matter of perceptions and social norms, and of course a little bit of your degree of mental stability. people don't like to listen, only talk. people watching is fun sometimes, sit back with a cold one and laugh at them.

We are all basically quite insane therefore the possibility of becoming sane is impossible. North American natives have been telling europeans the very day they landed on these shores that mother earth was to be treasured and to be treated with all respect and to take and give back.

Now we find that we have a planet that may have a very limited time before all that we have known becomes a vast waste land similar to Mars. I dare venture a guess that within ten years there will be so many drastic changes that you nor i have the slightest idea what awaits us.

We are tenants of this planet and we have destroyed water supplies, even now countries like Australia are drinking recycled water.

Whatever steps the governments of the North American continent do to reduce pollution it will have very little effect as there are many other coutries that are polluting to such an extent that thee very air and water is toxic. China is one of the dirtiest countries and we Canadians and Americans contribute to the pollution problems more so than most countries.

I would say beyond a doubt that there is no future for planet earth for they pollute and kill needlessly in wars that make no sense.

I take no pride in what i have done in the past to contribute to the demise of the planet earth for i have polluted and aided and abbetted in the wars that are taking place.

Our days are numbered and yet we continue to do as we usually do and think litle of tomorrow. This earth will have a twin and that will be Mars, barren and void of all life.

It will be said that man destroyed himself not through insanity but thoughtlessness for nature and his fellow man.

By example - and showing what works better for the greater good of all or at least for the mutual benefit of the majority.

That is proving that sanity is a more advantageous way of living than is insanity.

For instance:

Being nice to each other achieves more frienships than offering abuse.

Interferring in other countries politics generally leads to conflict.

Making threats to a nation or an individual will often result in threats being made back.

I'm sure you can think of a few more examples.

Actually, you can't.

The very foundation in which sanity is based upon is relative with regards to society's overall definition of what is sane and what is not.
"In a world of crazy people, the normal are the crazy"
Therefore, teaching sanity in an insane world is just like teaching our world to be insane.

We derive our sanity from our physical universe & our AGREEMENT that what we behold /see is the same reality to other individuals. Eg. we both look at a glass, you see a glass, i see a fish. One of us is insane. The individual who the population AGREE's with is the sane one. The idea then would be to get people to look/confront their physical enviroment as this is our meeting place no matter the culture. A person not in agreement with others in so far as seeing a tree can be considered to be unable to CONFRONT the physical universe AS IT IS, hence getting someone to look at physical objects is enabling him/her to CONFRONT.

This is not criticism, but it depends on what position you're coming from & if you are in fact projecting your issues/experiences/culture &/or faith onto the "insane world".

Having said that the only suggestion I could offer was to teach about other cultural, political, spiritual, (etc etc) & stress what is in common to reduce the element of fear from ignorance.
