Can anyone please tell me where in Amsterdam, in which area and close to which big street, is walletjie street, I want to go have a look at the place and nobody seems to know where it is.

You probably mean "de Walletjes" a.k.a. the red light district. It is in the centre, near central station, some streets over there: Warmoesstraat, Zeedijk, Oudezijds voorburgwal, Oudezijds achterburgwal, Lange niezel.

It's the Wallen or slang is Walletjes straat - it's the whole red light district.
It's easy to find - ask any shop owner where the red light district is.
