I had a rubella ( German measles) shot and was told not to get pregnant for 2 months and the very next month I was pregnant!! My doctor told me that she would advise me to continue with the pregnancy because it just isn`t studied that much on what the affects would be..She also said there wasn`t anything proving that it would hurt the baby but there wasn`t nothing saying it wouldn`t.I would first tell your mother and then you both need to go to a doctor and discuss it with her and see what they say...I wish you all the best!!....Btw..My daughter is now 11 years old and is happy and healthy!!

I'm not sure what the risks are to the baby during the first two-three months. Try looking up Polio risks to the baby on Google. You need to tell your mom ASAP because the doctor needs to know your pregnant and they can give you better information than anyone here on Y&A can. Also you need to take prenatel vitamins.

Maybe you should find out what the exact harm it may cause the baby and how many babies actually end up getting infected. Telling your mom is two fold, if she doesnt know your haviing sex well that could be a shock, but the other side is it's her grand child you are carrying and let me tell you better seek prenatal care right off. someone who specializes in high risk pregnancy. you know your options available. I have adopted child and thier are many people waiting. Agencies I think do a better job od screening.I also have three biological children my oldest is my daughter. I love and as maddening as it would feel I would not want to be left out of the process.

My dear Girl, I am sure once you tell mum what has happened she will be your best ally. The consequences of being pregnant post polio are serious and you need to act now.
Don't leave this situation any longer take her aside and turn on the tears as you explain your dilemma. I cannot see any mother worth her salt getting angry. But I can see her getting angry at you for not coming to her sooner. OK?

You need to just come out and tell her. Sooner the better. She might be mad at first, but she'll come around. Did they tell you EXACTLY what they risks are? As in what would happen to the baby? If you're pregnant, especially since they told you not to.. you need to get to the doctor as soon as possible. Good luck! :)

Putting it off won't make it any easier. Go and tell your mom now and then speak to the doctor and get advice on the best course of action. The quicker you deal with it the easier it will be.

There are no reported adverse effects of polio vaccine in pregnancy; they just say not to get pregnant to protect themselves. So don't worry about that.
You need to tell your mom so you can get prenatal care. She may be upset, but you'll just have to put up with that. You need to take care of yourself and your child.

Oh my dear....You need to go to the doctor there is a very good possibility that you are going to give birth to a very unhealthy baby. You are far too young to be having a baby anyway but now that you have played house you are going to have to face the consequences.

Ask her to take you to the doctors... just make up something. Then talk with the doctor about it and have the doctor invite your mother in and both you and the doctor talk to your mother about it.

What do you mean you don't know how to tell your mom about it? Is it because you are pregnant now? If not, what are you worried about?
