A woman doctor. She experiences first hand what women are going through. You can tell a male doctor about your yeast infections but he has no idea what it feels like.

Those are two different questions!
As far as do you think its better to see a woman or a man - it makes no difference whatsover. They have both undergone the same training and are, therefore, just as qualified and efficient as eachother.
When it comes to who you feel more comfortable with, that's a totally different thing. Personally, it doesn't bother me one way or the other but some of my friends would never, for instance, go for a smear test or a breast exam with a male doctor. It's totally personal choice on that one.

There are many women doctors who would be in a position to give your friend a detailed examination. I am sure she would feel more comfortable with a woman doctor. I had a woman doctor only once and I must admit that I was not a happy guy especially when she had to give me a digital exam.

If you seriously want to seek expert medical advise it has to be always a male doctor.Women should always go to a male Doctor for a comprehensive yearly check up.Only if he thinks that there is a need for Gynaec check up should the woman be directed to a Gynoecologist. [preferably male]. Male Gynoecologists are usually better clinician, surgeons as well as human beings.
