I saw something on Discovery Channel that implied that there is a genetic code that actually "turns on" and causes our bodies to fall into ruin or degrade if you will.

Have you ever seen the really young people (9-12 year old) that were physically 70 years old with all the ailments? Teeth falling out, poor eyesight, balding, skin all wrinkled. Something in their make up turned this gene on very early. Sad for them but quite interesting.

The body has the ability to heal itself without medicine but when our immune system is weakened due to physical abuse (like not sleeping well, eating junk, stress, etc), the body succumbs to disease and therefore the body slowly deteriorates and the self-healing is overtaken by disease and eventually death occurs.

It just Nature's way if we all lived forever there wouldn't be enough food or water to feed us all, there isn't anyway,so imagine what it would be like if no one died.I think that the liver is the only organ in the body that regenerates ,so theoretically you liver could go on forever...but not the rest of you.

Many deaths are not linked to failure of body to heal, which means death comes upon a perfectly healthy person too, i have personally witnessed two deaths like those.

The spirit is what leaves us when we encounter death, and the day science can make us live forever, religions will collapse. oh and if you follow religious rules closely you can live for quite longer.
