It's possible but the main deterrent is the fact that it is somewhat difficult to wage a war at 20,000 feet. This is why they both have to wait until they have good, workable nuclear missile delivery capability so they can fight this from the comfort and convenience of a reinforced bunker using rows of pushbuttons. When both sides have the proper controllers the war will start.

However, war is not likely for the following reason: there have been rumors and grumblings of war between these Hindus and Muslims for decades and nothing really serious has happened. Fear of war is used by the government to distract the starving, impoverished masses and keep the likelihood of an armed coup or revolution low. When the masses are scared to death of being nuked at any minute they are not as likely to rise up against the government.

Full scale Indo-Pak war is possible merely with the pushing of buttons on each side.

Of course it's possible and it would end badly for both sides.

India, with it's superior (in numbers) force would make good headway in Pakistan but most likely Pakistan and then India would respond with tactical and strategic nuclear strikes.

Given that the US supports Pakistan's government for it's Middle East Policy any war would end up severly damaging the Indo-US relationship.

There was an excellent book published about such a conflict with all of the potential International ramifications called "Future Wars". A worthy read if you are interested.

Yes if either or both countries got themselves manipulated by the big powers to get into one or to start one. The big powers do not want India or Pakistan to develop into "big powers" themselves and would love to see the two countries get into a war every now and then to slow down that development process.

Do not be suckers. Cooperate with each other and become stronger and richer countries. Come to an agreement on Kashmir. The cunning Brits left the Kashmir status unclear so you two would constantly be in conflict with each other. Wise up to that trick!

P.S. For LAREDDOG's info: India and Pakistan are in South Asia, not the Middle East.

Both India and Pakistan have nukes, any full scale war will be a disaster for Asia, India will come out as a winner anyway

something is obtainable. i could say the opportunities are seventy 5% by contrast going on. China could probable be standoffish to circumvent international Sanctions that should result from perceived violations of economic Recklessness that could result from getting in contact. If it did ensue. that's why I even have provided myself with a 25% cushion of Political Amnesty. In case i'm incorrect.
