Or a screeching Glaswegian accent?
I'm sure people from these areas are lovely people but, my goodness when they open their mouth, it makes me cringe.
Take CBB's Danielle Lloyd, pretty face, awful voice! Jennifer Ellison the mekon-head, pretty face awful voice.
By the way, I speak proper Queen's English with NO ACCENT!

The Liverpool girls are the worst. The way that the accent goes up and up and up as they talk until only dogs can hear it.
In fairness most neddy/chavy accents are pretty bad regardless of what part of the country they are from.

A Liverpudlian accent can be very nice, take Paul McCartney's for an example. You only hear harsh and aggressive accents when the mouth they come from is that of a harsh or aggressive person. It makes no difference where one comes from. A lack of intelligence with a bout of verbal diarrhoea will always be cringe worthy, just look at those on daytime chat shows and the character of Vicky pollard to prove my point.

You haven't got an accent? So your voice doesn't sound like anything or anyone elses? You must have a lovely voice, it must sound the way God's voice sounds and fit each ear perfectly. People from everywhere perceive you accentless - good for you. You are unique on this Earth. Thank God you don't have a strong accent like the English queen though! That is one of the strongest accents and pronunciations you're ever likely to hear. Like the rest of us I'm sure she's green with envy at your dulcet tones.

Just a minute...I can just about remember the mid-late sixties when everyone wanted to take on Scouse just to let people know they were 'with it...man'. A bit like the moronic 'mockney' nonsense a few years ago...which were even influencing people in home town of Norwich. And what about the oral deliverance of the musical quintet Oasis (or the two brothers therein) - some dears decided to become Mancs for a time...oh yes they did!
Nice one, St Helens. And Yvonne also has it right...the accent is different if you, live in, say, Kirkby than if you lived in Blundellsands (or to be harsh...rough against mid-upper class) - which can also be said about parts of Glasgow and Birmingham, yes?

I find the broad Liverpool accent the worst. I squirm when I hear it.
It is worse coming from young celebrities. I also hate the Geordie accent as spoken by Cheryl Cole. But the worst of all is the Queens voice.
Does she speak like that all the time, or is it put on for us to hear.William and Harry are getting like her and Kate Middleton (Duchess) is also sounding like her.

Yes. and I was born in Liverpool! Fortunately you can actually be born there and not talk like a complete twerp. I have fake 'Scouse' accents even more than the real thing. which make people sound very unintelligent.

no, Liverpudlian accents do not make me cringe, I live and work with Liverpudlians, I've also worked with the Scots, many of them Glaswegians, and they are brilliant people, you're steriotyping, and that's unfair, besides, I have a broad North West Accent (not a Mancunian or Liverpudlian accent, but a St Helens accent) and you d have an accent, you just don't realise it, I don't speak "queens English" like you, I speak a bit like Peter Kay, (I'm not saying I have his accent as he's from Bolton) but I talk lke he does, i.e "brew" for a cup of tea. But it's pretty obvious that the way you've set your answer out that you hate us Northerners. If you spoke queens English up here, we'd just baffle you with the way we speak!

Any strong accent makes me cringe INCLUDING those that sound like the person has a pound of plums in their mouth! I prefer a slight lilt or inflection in an accent.

Why do you say you have no accent? Everyone has an accent even if you are voice trained.
God help you if you do speak like the Queen, now her voice does make me cringe.
