...and what may I ask has Blackpool to do with Greece? Or has it moved recently and I haven't noticed?

most hotels are like b and bs once you get in the room. the way to avoid is booking a travel lodge type place. anyway i found a decent hotel near the pleasure beach with an indoor pool and decent family orientated bar and a fabulous breakfast. Its called the gables balmoral hotel and when we stayed the rooms were clean though old fashioned, and there were no party groups when we stayed but plenty of families. I don't know if they allow groups or not. best to check with them if booking.

Can I recommend going to a B&B outside the busy areas ,
as some were in a bad state , there are plenty to chose from
if you type in B&B in Blackpool into GOOGLE , good luck.

I've never stayed in Blackpool. However, I have used Smooth Hound Systems http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/ for places to stay around the UK and always found good guesthouses.
