Cos I bet you use it on a multi colour mouse mat or something similar.....don't and it will work properly.

There are two options: 1. Coloured mousepad. Cursor may be sticking or moving to sides of screen very quickly from time to time. 2. Damaged mouse cable. When contact disappears, mouse is sticking or even hanging till restart of PC.

Reasons could be
1. reflective or mirror like platform where mouse is kept
2. loose connection of mouse
3. If mouse only is stuck and also keyboard then the problem is with softwares
4. Mouse life exhausted

Believe it or not i have had my optical for six years.
Clean the optical sensor(the red light)with vinegar or after shave or any alcohol based product (after shaves best coz it smells nice LOL)this should fix the problem

mine sticks when the battery is low try recharging it and see if that makes a difference
