Some of you have managed to convince me that I need to do further research. I can not accept what you are saying at face value, because I have always believed and I still believe that the Federal Reserve and Income Tax and the IRS are all completely evil and wrong, and created by the ultra rich elite Gobalists for the benefit of themselves alone. I am still not convinced that this crime against humanity is legal, but I am now convinced that I have to research it further. Legal is not always moral, and no one will EVER convince me that there is anything moral and right about this!!!

By the way, Ed Mike, I can think of lots of ways to spend the money, but I won't list them all here! I love a man with a sense of humor!

I thought the 16th amendment granted the government the power to tax the people and basically established the IRS?

the only problem is that the amendment was never ratified by the states.

still the supreme court has upheld the IRS's legal existence.

EDIT:

I actually accept taxes quite readily, however i do think that we should do away with the withholdings tax.

I want to see all Americans have to write the check to the IRS out of their pay checks, that way when the people realize they are paying almost 30% in income taxes as a mean average maybe we will hold the politicians to account for it.

Belief or not, not likely. A basic goal of any economy is a stable currency. The U.S. has been successful there, in large measure, due to the competency and independence of the Federal Reserve. The IRS is burdened with an immense set of rules and regulations established by politicians elected by the taxpaying public. Silly, isn't it. Income taxes are rational if taxation is mandated. However, a single rate for all without any deductions other than personal exemptions for income equal to what is minimal for self-preservation is an admirable goal that all but the most partisan and adverserial should get behind.

Just got a quesiton of my own, how do you propose to pay for the government if not by taxes? The fed controls the money without it there would be cycles of inflation and depression and I personally think it does a good job of doing this. However if you have a better plan, I would like to hear it. In answer to your question no, I do not believe that these two agencys should be abolished until another system is in place and working.

I watched that entire movie. It took quite a while. Then I did some fact checking, including relevant law and commentary. I think the movie made a few good points and is interesting to view, but by and large it's full of crap - it goes too far and becomes a diatribe rather than any sensible consideration of all the facts.

Yes, I saw the film "Freedom to Fascism". As a liberatarian and a person who loves documentaries, I was hoping for great things.

But I was very disappointed. I found the film to be intellectually dishonest and a vehicle for the filmmaker to further his political beliefs with blatant misformation. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and educate the viewer. This one doesn't.

Here are some examples:

--- The film claims there is no law that requires someone to pay income tax with the only explanation that we pay tax is because of a huge conspiracy with everyone in government going along.
I thought it was odd the filmmaker could not find the statute. So I looked it up on the internet and found it in five minutes

Huh? If it is so easy to find, why does the filmmaker say otherwise? In a NY times story, he was aware of the U.S. Code legalizing income tax but claims that doesn't count.
(ref http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/31/movies/31russ.html?ex=1311998400&en=05c0d0988f58fc50&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss ) OK, that's fine but a good documentary maker would tell the whole story, not leave out signficant facts because they harm his main thesis.

--- Another claim: The 16th amendment was not ratified. Yet there are countless sources that say otherwise. Wikipedia lists all the states and the dates they ratified it. The arguments against ratification are actually quite interesting but the filmmaker does not bother to inform us those reasons; only paint it as part of the conspiracy.

- Re Federal Reserve

The Federal Reserve System is governed and overseen by the Board of Governors. The Board of Governors are all appointed for 14-year terms by the president and confirmed by congress. It operates per it's charter and laws set by congress. it is overseen by congress. There is no structure or mechanism for private ownership at this level. Board members are forbidden by law to have any economic interest in a private bank.

However, the 12 branches are organized like private corporations. And though they are overseen by the Board of Governors, most of their board is elected by the member banks.

- RFID: I did find the RFID segment to be accurate as well the things that *could* happen with it. And that is something that will have to be argued on a case-by-case basis.

In the final analysis, the film is entertaining and a fine example of political propaganda and conspiracy

----

But you are right that there are a lot of inequities in the current and room for improvement in the current tax systems. Arm yourself with good and accurate info and be a positive force for change.

You go girl!

Good luck!

IRS yes... Federal reserve? I do not know enough about them to say. We do need economic planning and people looking out for that end... Whatever we are doing now is working. Before I made any drastic changes I would want to understand what was going on...
