I want to book a cottage with either lastminute.com or cottages4you.co.uk. Both cottages are advertised for the exact same price on these 2 websites, but I want to give my money to the right company. Can you help please? Thank you in advance. They both offer exactly the same deal with insurance, etc.

It means the both site are using the same advertisment of the company providing u the deal. It does not matters you are booking through which site, there will be no difference in the deal.
It is just buying the same ticket from any of the booking window.
