I've heard many news about Sony will go to bankruptcy bcoz of the manufacture cost loss, they say the price of every one unit of a PS3 doesn't cover the expense in manufacturing..... I hope dis is true bcoz they are so money-suckers and I have a PSP here but it is useless coz curse to that stupid UMD! I support more Microsoft since I'm amazed when I bought a 360 and played it, but I'm not a fanboy......NOTICE: I DON'T WANT ANY FANBOYS HERE!!!!!

Clearly you don't want people that can write well either. Drives me nuts when I try to read a question and it is written in LAZY English. Anyway Sony ISN'T going Bankrupt. They make up the money in games. That is the way it has been for awhile actually. How much do you think a CD/DVD costs? About 2 or 3 cents for the actual disc. Yeah really that is about all they cost. Then throw in the money to program them. You still aren't even at half the cost of the game. That is where they make up the money. That is where they have ALWAYS made up the money. Oh and the 360 costs more to make then what they sell it for as well. The Wii is proably the only one that doesn't.

Sony is too big to go bust over one product, sorry.

Even if the manufacturing costs exceeded the price by $100 that could still ship millions without going down.

Apart from owning Sony Pictures it's own label it also owns Columbia Pictures. Do not forget their extensive media hardware of DVD players, stereos, plus they are the principal backer of the upcoming Blu-Ray technology. Add to this a mobile phone company and the already prolific gaming industry in the PSP and Playstation and it looks like they aren't going anywhere soon, even if the Playstation flops.

Remember what happened to Sega after their console imploded. Even if the PS3 is a bust (and I don't think so, though they won't achieve any sort of decent market penetration with the price they are offering, tech is moving outside the geek with a huge allowance, it needs to be affordable to all to have appeal) Sony vcould easily convert to games manufacture without owning a top console. Or they could convert and provide a PS2 "upgrade" package to make it a contender.

Don't want to rain on your parade but this doesn't spell the downfall of Sony.

It is true that Sony losses money on every unit they sell. However Sony knew they would be losing money on the system for awhile. They lost money on PS2 at the beginning as well. Microsoft also lost money on every 360 sold when it first went on sell. Not sure if they are making profit from it yet but they should be at least close to break even. The hardware takes a back seat to the software. Sell the console at a lost then try to make your money back off game sells.

Sony is a huge company and won't go bankrupt due to the PS3's failure. Sony's gaming division is losing tons of money, but other divisions are making money.
