Communication+Humor+Humility+ Honesty = A good start!
I worked with a man at a restaurant once he was about 68 years old, he was just working for fun. He told me this story once(it is a bit long so bear with me). He said "One day I came home and my wife was by the door she had suitcases packed and told me she was leaving. I told her to hold on one minute and ran to the bed room, I packed a bag and went back to her at the door. She looked at me funny and said, "What are you doing?" I told her I'm going with you, if you leave I leave." This happened to them at a much younger age and brought tears to my eyes, it still does. He has since passed on, but I hold that story dear and it has got me thorough many fights with my husband, I hope it can help you.

Yes if God is the center of your marriage and you are commited and loving and loyal and honest and try to be the best spouse that you know how to be to your mate.... Read the love chapter in the bible as that never fails and treat your spouse the way you would want them to treat you... God has the perfect formula for the marriage in the Bible....Praying together as a couple is great too!

Millions of peole all over the world have great relationships and outstanding married lives. What they have is mutual happiness and respect, along with dignity, integrity, support, caring, nurturing, understanding, tolerance, and forgiveness. What I mentioned was mutual--it takes both for success. And then comes COMMUNICATIONS skills. learn to rationally discuss problems and decisions...never disrespect or blame either person for a problem--work on fixing things together. be cool, discover each other, maintain your individuality, expand your horizons and grow. Have fun too. Best of luck

hi dear yes love and accept the person the way he/she is.don't try to change him/her and never get into a criticism mode.we are also born with some negative traits.we also expect people to like us the way we are.
i has once read in a book that this is one relation god has made which establishes out of nothing(like a blood relation) .so let certain things be.don't fight over small things and give space to each other.spend quality time together and speak to each other over the problems you face, never let them go off.best of luck for future

If you aren't married yet - live together for at least 6 months before you get married. You don't really know someone til you live with them.

If you are marrried now - communication, honesty, compatibility, and HAVE FUN!

Respect
Communication &
Trust

Keep those three and you will be just fine.
I am speaking from experience, my first marriage lacked most of that and my second has it 100% and it's been great.

read 'men are from mars and women are from Venus' by john Gray. i wouldn't recommend all of the text, but there is good information and some eye openers also. i was quite surprised when i first took the plunge :)
