In the USA what political party closely resembles the Scottish National Party?

The Libertarians are similar in some ways as they claim "America First". The SNP is really unified now to assure a break with England. After that point it's reason to exist will melt away and the componants will divide into new parties. Just like our Continental congress, After America cut the ties the individuals became different parties.

Perhaps you could elaborate a bit about the nature of the Scottish National Party; otherwise, it's hard to compare without doing a lot of research.

Perhaps it would suffice to tell you a bit about each of the two major parties in the U.S. The Republican party tends to be conservative; they believe in less government being a good thing. They tend to have a large military budget, and have less concentration on domestic issues than on foreign policy. The current U.S. president is a member of the Republican party.

The Democratic party tends to be more liberal in its leanings; it believes that the function of the government is to serve the citizenry. It is more prone to raising taxes to support social and similar programs; it also tends to be environmentally conscious.

Since there isn't the same division in the USA (aka no particular state wants independence) there is no major political party like the SNP.

Why would you quit supporting the SNP because you move to the USA? Are they revoking your Scottish heritage and culture?
