I want to book a cottage with either lastminute.com or cottages4you.co.uk. Both cottages are advertised for the exact same price on these 2 websites, but I want to give my money to the right company. Can you help please? Thank you in advance. They both offer exactly the same deal with insurance, etc.

When I usually find more than one organisation providing the exact same service, I usually like to give my money to the organisation that either benefits the local economy or supports charities. It's hard to tell with these two websites.

In this case I would probably go for cottages4you.co.uk as they specialise in cottages and take the effort in visiting each of the cottages to insure it's credibility.
Good luck and I hope you have a good time.

I have only ever used lastminute.com and have never had any problems with it, if it is the same deal and price then I'd imagine either site would be OK.

Get McAfee site advisor from http://www.siteadvisor.com it puts a little button at the bottom of the site which is green if they consider the site safe, or red if it is a scam etc.

Both are reputable - I've used them both without problems.

Whichever you use, both are effectively acting as agents and will take a slice of whatever you pay.

Really nothing to choose between them. Which website did you like the best? Which was easiet to use? Opt for the website you felt most comnfortable with.
