Here's the dirt. He's Irish.

I give this as evidence for my claim.

1. The McDonald Brothers of which Ronald McDonald owes his name are of Irish ancestry.
2. He's got red hair.
3. It's much more common for irish people to have Mc as part of their name, and Scottish people have Mac (more commonly) Though it should be said that is the trend and not the rule.
4. He's obviously a drunk.

P.S. Just kidding about #4...I truly love the Irish!

McDonald is definately a Scottish surname, and with the celtic colouring, I'd say he's from Scotland.
Although, with friends like the Hamburglar, it's hard to say for sure.

It rings a bell that whoever founded McDonalds their family's ancestry is European, possibly Baltic, and the name Mcdonald was adopted when the first generation came to the US. I'm having to dredge that up from memory so don't take it as gospel.

this link shows Mcdonald is of scottish origin and even shows a family crest, but i don't see any golden arches or burgers on it ! Strangely though the crest is red and yellow !!!! http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.familycrest_details/s.McDonald/Origin.SC/sId./qx/McDonald.htm
