I am an American and I tend to think the same thing. However I don't think it is that easy. I recently finished reading the Biography of Marie Antionette. The one thing I came to realize while reading that and reading the accounts of the Roayl Family during the French Revolution was This- I have been brought up in a pretty meager life. I have always had to work for everything I have. I was taught from a very young age that I did have to work so I know how to. But Royals are a different matter. They were born into a life of privlege. They were never taught how to work because they did not have too. If we suddenly took everything away from them, they would not know how to survive. I bet the princes could not even boil water if they had to. If the Royal family is abolished, a plan will need to be laid out to do it. Maybe gradually phase it out. Set out a plan where the Royalty ends with the Generation of Harry and William, then send people in to prepare them and the next generation how to survive in the real world. Teach them how to cook and clean and go out and get jobs. Those are all things that we all know about, because we have tto, it is all very commonplace to us. But it is not to them, not to the Royals, their lives are much different than ours are.

I think that if the British people ever decide to do away with the Monarchy, they will need a plan in place to make it work so that England doesn't end up with a bunch of homeless out of work Royals. It can be done, but everyone will need to think of them. Remember this is the only life they know, the only life they expect.

Actually they make more money then the spend. It's part of our culture and our heritage, and you can't abolish hundreds of years of our history. Let's not follow the French to their doom and get rid of our Monarchy. After all look at them now, it's what keeps England England! God save the Queen!

royals have one hand in every brit's pocket, the other hand over every brits mouth, and b y ruthlessly exercising their power to ostracize, they continue to perpetuate their presence in britain and their plundering the country's wealth. Their prostituted entourage handles it as the royals want it handled. This nonsense about the royals having no power is a myth,

It's true that if we had an elected head of State their time in office would be temporary, and more importantly we'd have a choice on who it is.

I agree that we should not put so much money towards them, however, I think keeping them does draw a LOT of tourist attraction, and makes the UK, and especially London, a helluva lot of money overall, so i'm in support of them.

I don't think the royal family is bothering you anymore than you're bothering them. I think they are quite interesting.

Why not. They symbolize inequality among humans. Some are Royals while some are Commons. The commons work hard and pay taxes. The Royals spend them hard.
