I have been experiencing hot flushes. I know this symptom is related to menopause, butI'm only a teenager. It occurs every few months for about 2 weeks on and off.

Any ideas? thanks

It has pretty much the same cause as it does during menopause, hormone levels changing. It happens and is just part of being a woman. There is a good chance that it will stop or ease as you get older and your hormones settle down some. During puberty, things go wacky for a while as your body adjusts to all the changes it is going through. That adjustment period usually lasts 4 to 6 years after you start your menstrual cycle.

You should see a gynecologist to make sure everything is going okay. If it gets unbearable, birth control pills can make your hormone levels normal. They are not just prescribed for pregnancy prevention.

Hot flushes are annoying, but not the worst thing that could be happening. Just wait until you burst into tears and have no idea why. Welcome to womanhood.

I have no idea why you are getting hot flashes, but drink lots of cold water. That's what I do to cure mine. Some women go through this early on.

Nevermind that they are calling them 'hot flashes' ; you are correct. They are HOT FLUSHES. That's what they have always been called since the 1970's. Archie Bunker coined that determination & it stuck girl.
