Usually, we go to dinner and spend some quality time together, but he is now working in the oil field, and leaves the house at 4:40 in the morning, then doesn't make it back until around 7:00 in the evening! I doubt I'll get it off from work, so I want to come up with something special I can do for him to let him know how much I love him, even though we can't be together. Any ideas?

Basically what I'm doing is that I'm giving him a memory box with some stuff I put together for him. I also made him a really nice card with a heartfelt poem that I wrote. I made him a poem book with pictures I have taken as well. : } I'm doing all this stuff because Valentine's is our first anniversary. ♥

Well, I found this great website that has a lot of ideas that people sent in. A lot of great ideas... cheap, creative, sweet. So if you need ideas, here ya go:

He's exhausted when he gets home, I understand that. Does he work on Saturday also? Do you. OK, assuming that you do. Do you and he have any day off together before the Holiday? My husband will be out of town this year on business, so we're doing our Valentine's dinner the Saturday before. Going out the day of is not relaxing because of the overcrowded conditions in most restaurants. Many couples celebrate earlier.

I've also prepared his favorite meal from soup to nuts for him. I prepared most of it in advance so I wouldn't have to do a lot on the day of. If you're working a lot, plan a meal that's completely make ahead. (Like lasagna) Or something in the crock pot. My husband loves pot roast, It's great in the crock pot. Comfort food after a long day in the oil fields would be perfect.

Run a bath and put in just a few drops of lavendar essential oils. Lavendar relaxes. Burn some essential oils and/ or scented candles. Put candles everywhere around the tub and in the bathroom. (But be careful where you place them--you don't want to burn down the house!) Put rose petals in the bath. Bathe together.

Sprinkle some petals in your bed and on the floor leading to the bed. Candles are good here too.

Buy some lovely massage oil and give him a massage. It's like creating a spa weekend in your own home.

Do all or part of this and he'll appreciate it. Have a wonderful evening whatever you decide to do.

On the day of, leave him a lovely card and some of his favorite candy. A nice meal in the crockpot would be super since you can't be there. Set a pretty place for him, too.

Plan ahead. Make him some love notes for his lunch box, his clothing pockets, nothing ostentatious, just to remind him of your continued devotion and happiness with him. Get a set of music, movies, or a sports program he likes recorded for him to enjoy when he may - even if you aren't home - as a present. Get a take-out dinner he likes on your way home - and warn him that dinner will be at home this year, and not to get the same idea! Tell him you would like a single rose, a pretty candle, a card, any small thing he has time to get for you - will be welcome - AND MEAN IT! Offer him a nice oil rubdown if he'll reciprocate after nice hot showers - alone or together. After that, if he isn't in the mood to roll on, just give him a big kiss. Don't pressure. You are both under a lot of stress, and should be loving and comfortable enough with each other to relax. You can also agree to wait to celebrate until the next mutual day or days off.

Saint Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day falls on February 14. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards, candy or Donations to Charities, often anonymously. It is very common to present flowers on Valentine's Day. The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

First off he probably isn't into Valentines day. So if you want to do something special for him, cook a nice meal and wear something alluring.
