Why is betting illegal in India?
Why are we arresting all those betting agents, while it is completely legal all over the world?

Because we dont have good batsman at all.

Theres lots of reasons and they are all Ignorant Its true its legal in Nevada but everywhere else they try like hell to block it Why? Well Sports betting is seen as a skill by the powers that be and governments PREFER to offer gambling that can not possibly be beaten by skill - ie lotteries - keno - etc. This way they make more money - overall for the house sports betting is not a HUGE money maker so they prefer to look the other way and not waste their time. Also many people again ignorantly believe that legalizing sports betting in more areas will further increase money laundering and crime and fixing games. its so stupid - athletes in pro sports especially make to damn much money to fix a game in most cases - and places like vegas often are the first whistle blowers if there is suspicious activity involving cheating so you would think they would legalize and monitor , but no such luck why do americans allow it you ask - the number of Americans who are mad about it and want to bet on sports events are a Small minority and do not have alot of power legally to change minds - that and if your main goal is just to get your bets down - no matter what laws or rules they make - its Never that hard to make a bet if your really willing to do so! Some Laws are only on paper anyways, most people look the other way, Life goes on - place your bets:)

betting on crude oil , silver , gold ,commodities & shares are legal but betting on cricket is illegal in india.

It's not just that... any kind of betting is prohibited here... due to comman can easily fall pray to make easy money & loose his hard earned money... & this can lead to rise of betting mafia's again security hassel for law & order.
