They turn on the tap. I'm pretty sure they have houses and running water there. And if they don't, I think they could melt some snow or ice.

Contrary to what many people here seem to think (besides one or two of them), Alaska is not completely covered in snow and ice. The snow and ice on the ground is also not suitable drinking water - so it could not be used anyway.

People in Alaska get their water from ground aquifers just like most of the rest of the country. Surface water is usually not suitable for drinking, and there is relatively little of it. Ground water is where almost every single person in the United States gets their water - either from a personal well or from a city well.

When sea/lake water freezes below 0 degree celcius, it's only the top layer that actually freezes. So in the ocean, or even in a lake, the water below the ice is still in liquid form, at around 4 degree celcius, so people who live in Alaska, or the poles, will still have water sources.
