Sharing wealth more equally in society, but that means social revolution...much like the proposed intent of the French revolution. Can it be accomplished in any other way in a Democracy, where capitalism and conspicuous wealth are encouraged? I do think so...

In order to end poverty you'd have to:

1. Strictly control population
2. Set up a system by which there is a minimum standard of living for every single person in the world

Resources are not infinite. If we want to end the suffering of people, we're going to have to kill off a lot of people so that those who are left have enough, and then we're going to have to distribute what we have in an equitable way so that everybody has at least enough to live comfortably and healthfully. As for who we should kill off...maybe everybody over 50? Maybe all the sick people? Maybe all the poor people? Maybe all the billionaires? Maybe anybody who hurts a child, or murders another person, or abuses an animal, or litters? You choose. I ain't doing it. There are no easy answers.

What is poverty? The poorest American is richer than a desert dweller. Studies have found that economic growth is dependent on population growth and the amount of freedom people have. Why did people leave China and go to Hong Kong in the 1950's and 60s? Why is Hong Kong one of the best economies in the world? Why do poor people leave Mexico and come to the US?

A massive change in everyone's consciousness.
(you can lead horses to water but you cannot make them drink.)

Serious population control, education and major changes in people's hearts and mind are what would be required as I see it. Some people think a worldwide strike might do it or redistribution of the worlds wealth and resources. Some think the only solution is the appearance of religious messiahs or a more advanced race of extraterrestial creatures.

Capitalism is the culprit in many people's minds. The purpose of capitalism is to create profit. Profit is created by selling more goods, service and information to more people (consumers).
People who profit do not want to lose their profits. They are against population control by default (if it reduces their profits as well).

People of the world want and feel they are entitled to more goods, services and information so they can keep up with the lifestyle of the Joneses (the West); so all of humanity is guilty as well.

Putting artificial ceilings on the accumulation of wealth will not stop poverty, but it might cause some of the corporations and business who provide jobs to close their businesses and just sit on their money. Then, you might have a chain reaction of businesses closing and massive loss of employement. There would be stagnant economies, depression, and a financial collapse would ensue. Chaos and anarchy would rule.

Redistributing the worlds wealth might not have the results the people who advocate that however well intentioned they might be. There will still be people who will not have the motivation to succeed even if they are provided with basic needs. Look at the example of the youth who have not had to work; they are bored and lead meaningless lives. Many of them find and espouse radical beliefs that do give their lives "meaning".

Read "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand to get her take on what she thought would happen if a world wide welfare state were created. Innovation would creep to a halt.

I say it is time for Zero population growth. The emphasis of parmacutical R D should be on reducing male fertility; not curing erectile dysfunction and hair loss.

It takes a woman nine months to have at most seven or eight children at one time. In that same amount of time one man's sperm could impregnate thousands of women.

I say nations should provide free birthcontrol to their citizens.

I say it is time for nations of the world to pool the resources they use to wage war to start a serious R&D to find another earthlike planet.

Some of these possible solutions would have to be done very slowly and others would require a bit more urgency.

There can't be an end to poverty according to me even in the developed countries there is poverty still left.
But we can minimize it by giving them free education, by giving them equal opportunities and by helping them in our own different way which suits us the best.

build a transportation system world-around like the one proposed by the engineer of the Golden Gate Bridge (Strauss) and make sure warfare is seen as an immature and inefficient way to solve problems

look at the fable by Aesop "Bellly and the Other Members" and if anyone ever uses an animal (like an elephant or donkey from Thomas Nast) to symbolize a political party, ban them from all future positions in government

answer the question of "why" do we allow our neighbors to continue suffering in poverty and the "how" will sooner take care of itself
