Indeed am I honoured by fate to answer such a question about my most favourite of deities.
Lord Shiva is one of the famous Trimurthi - the three forms of the Almighty. There is Lord Brahma who is the creator, Lord Vishnu who is the protector of created things and then there is Lord Shiva who is the destroyer of the negative creations.
Lord Shiva is indeed special for he could take on what no other deity could - a poison so poisonous it could kill just anybody. He drank it but did not do so fully. He held it in his throat thus his other name - Neelakanta - The Blue necked One.
Lord Shiva like many other destroyers of evil assasinates all that is of negative force. Such is his personality and he is always found deep in meditation.
He is said to be looking at the world with only 1/4 of his eyes open. If the remaining open, the destruction of this world is to fall.
Speaking of which, Lord Shiva has a Third eye. This third eye is said to emit flames of such high intensity, it can make even the earth perish in such a small amount of time.
Lord Shiva is said to be the easiest Lord to please for even just if you say that you have given your whole being to him and that you seek protection under him, he shall indeed protect you for as it is mentioned in the Rudras, that of such result is a vow to you by him.
Lord Shiva is indeed one of a kind Gods who is easy to please, has much to look up to and can protect you for your life.
Thank you for letting me share my knowledge.

Lord Shiva is one of the three incarnations of the Divine, according to Hinduism. He is the active part, the destroyer and creator, deity of war and dance.
Shiva signifies beginnings and endings, changes and force.
Really cool deity.

Shiva was a person he did somethig nice due to which modern Hindus believe him to be lord but there's not truth behind it as God can never be a human. No matter how nice a person is, He can't be a God.
e.g you make a video tape player.... if anything goes wrong in it u won't become a video tape to go inside and see wat is wrong. you will consult a manual or ur personal techniques. similarly God created us and if there is anything wrong with us it doesnt mean He will come as human to help us... there is the Holy Book The Qur'an... read it and solve the problem because it includes solution to every problem for this is the manual for every creature.

He is a hindu god of destruction. He finishes life, when there does'nt seem to be any progress, and makes way for new life to appear.
