I'm going to assume you made a typo.

x + 1 = 2x + x/3

Your first step would be to eliminate all fractions by multiplying by 3.

3(x + 1) = 3(2x + x/3)

3x + 3 = 6x + x

Now, move all x terms to the left hand side, and everything else to the right hand side.

3x - 6x - x = -3
-3x - x = -3
-4x = -3, so
x = 3/4

There's no possible value of x that can make that whole equation true.

But if you wanted to solve for x by separating it into two different problems:

x+1 = 2x
2x-x = 1
x = 1

2x = x/3
6x = x
x = 0

________________________________________________

There is also the possibility that you made a typo and that the problem should be either x+1 = 2x + x/3 OR x+1+2x = x/3

x+1 = 2x + x/3
x+1 = (6x+x) / 3
3(x+1) = 7x
3x+3 = 7x
4x = 3
x = 3/4

x+1+2x = x/3
3x+1 = x/3
3(3x+1) = x
9x+3 = x
8x = -3
x = -3/8
