My dad works in a guitar store and he gave me Nirvana books.. they had all the notes and cords.. but he said nirvana songs are the easiest to learn cause they have only two or three cords over and over again. but that helps you learn them.

I'd like to add my 2 cents to fawncreek, above(I've played and taught on the side for 20+ years)-

Get a live teacher- there's no substitute for the give and take, the enforced discipline of having to learn an assignment by the next lesson, and no book or CD will nip a bad habit in the bud. You don't need to go to the local music store for the half-hour session with some apathetic wannabe who can't remember your name until he checks the clipboard. If there's a local nonprofit community music school or community college, they'll frequently have group lessons for less than what the stores charge. The good thing about group lessons is that it's a chance to meet players at about your skill level- once you have the basics down, know some chords, can change chords at normal speed, read basic music- share the music/tab/chords for a song or two, familiarize yourself with the material, and meet for a jam session- do this on a regulare basis and you'll get better much faster than if you were trying to do it alone-

Good Luck,
Seamus

First choose a style that you like and find a teacher that produces the kind of material you can work with...Alot of professional guitar players of today learn by ear, or the "Nashville Number Method", as well as "Tabulature" try www.melbay.com or www.homespun.com

Another consideration is the source link below.........cheers
