Plz quote sources and no stupid answers.

Actually the main explanation was that the countries from the UN couldn't reach an agreement.Whenever someone came with a proposal ,most of the times US didn't agree with it and vetoed it...It took several days to reach an agreement between the US and France...And when they finally reached it,they couldn't find enough countries willing to send troops to Lebanon...

The UN couldn't find enough nations who would commit troops to be a part of any peacekeeping force. Also, Hezbollah continued to fire missiles at Israeli targets, and Israel was in the midst of withdrawing from agreed to territories so the peacekeepers could station themselves within the buffer zone, which was 25 miles from the Israeli-Lebanese border.

By the way, Hezbollah now has the democratically elected president of Lebanon bottled up in Beirut, trying to force it to resign in mass so they can control the nation. They just held a general strike but failed to bring down the government. As usual, Islamic fundamentalist groups are causing division and civil war in their own lands. It's what they do best, UN or not.

Thousands of Lebanese died? What about the Israelis who died?
The UN is of no use to anyone except its members. They live off the perks they receive for being members and living in the USA rent-free. Stop the war? The UN couldn't even stop at a red traffic light.

The UN has NEVER reacted promptly to any crisis. This is a fact, sorry for the harshness of it.
