Lots of 'em. Used to be a lot of that going around. A virus, I think.

Actually, the "virgin birth" and the "immaculate conception" are two different things. Catholicism teaches that sin is passed from parent to child; thus, in order for Jesus to be free of sin, Mary had to be free from sin. Thus, God is said to have created Mary in a sinless conception for the express purpose of later conceiving Jesus, thus creating an "immaculate conception." It hasn't got anything to do with a virgin birth, although it's certainly easy to see why the two are confused.

Personally, neither one is my belief, as I'm Jewish, but I've studied a bit about various religions, and that happens to be one little factoid that I remember.

As far as other virgin births in mythology, there are several: Dekanahwideh, of the Huron Indians; Montezuma, the Pueblo god-hero; Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec god of war and of the sun; Sathya Sai Baba, the south Indian guru; Cuchulainn, a hero of ancient Ulster - these are only a few of many.

Jesus is the only one I know born through immaculate conception, I do not know who Mithras was.

As I understand it, those were the only two. From Olympus, the gods descended to couple with humans (not immaculate) ... Zeus "bore" his daughter from his forehead (does that qualify as an immaculate conception?)

If you consider that the origin of the myths is demonology you have to wonder what the devil was up to creating so many myths that all put together represent another gospel.

Jesus wasn't. Mary was, but she's not a god.
