Cullinan 1 would be the answer to your question, if you would have asked this question before July 2003, 'coz that's the time when three diamonds, each roughly measuring 2500 odd carats (can you imagine!) were found in a small village in India (don't know which state). They say, the diamonds are so expensive that even the joint venture of the USA, the U.K. & France could not buy any single one of those! (let alone the chances of other countries). In fact, if India is able to sell them, she would become the richest nation in the world.

While others say it was just not discovered. However, they were discovered accidentally by a villager while excavating the floor of his mud-built hut, & now they are kept in some top secret place. The Excelsior *which means higher* is not only one of the worlds largest diamonds it is the second largest diamond ever found. It originally weighed 995.2 carats. The diamond was cut into ten pieces, the three largest weighing 158, 147 and 130 carats.
