Middle Eastern people come to America all the time.
According to the CDC, "Asphyxiation, choking on sweet air of freedom" has only occurred twice since the Iranian revolution.
So, yeah, there's precedent. But it's very rare.

No. Actually with the current security measures in the US, no one wants to go to the US. And especially not Middle Easterners. Its even very difficult for US nationals to go in and out of the US. They even look at the food you eat to assess your terror level! So much for privacy.
Its true that there is little or no Democracy in the Middle East, but you should know that most of those despotic Arab regimes are supported by the US.
Do you want to know the one of the root cause of Islamic extremism in that region? Freedom of speech and criticism against the Arab leaders is banned in those countries, and one can even get into trouble for that.
That opposition occurs within the Mosque, and as a result, there is religious extremism. The Israeli Palestinian confict fuels that further. There are many things that contribute to extremism, the one described is one of them.
So, it is partly US policies in the ME region that causes extremism there.

The concept of freedom to a person from a repressive government is alien at best. They would probably be shocked by the overwhelming depravity of this country (in their eyes). Some who come here for school, realize this is a great country, and some come here and think "wow, what a good place for a little jihad to get these infidels squared away!"
Everyone is different and their impressions will be varied, but I would like to think the ability to freely practice religion and talk smack on Yahoo Answers would appeal to most.

the difference between ppl who live in the middle east and ppl who live in America is: ppl in ME know for certain that there is no such thing called freedom and they learned how to live with it..
ppl in America THINK that they live in freedom and THINK that freedom still exists..
so the thing that would choke ppl from ME is not freedom "cuz it doesn't exist anywhere" what would choke them is ignorance

You will be surprised . If you take someone out of an environment they are used to, the new environment will actually frighten them---- at first.
Then comes the resignation to their fate ( I guess Im here for a while) and then the adaptation ( Hey, this is kind a cool) and then the gratitude ( I wish the rest of my family can taste this life)

on the contrary, i think they would flourish...people are used to struggling against corrupt officials & dictatorial governments for even basic amenities that we take for granted like clen drinking water etc..
in a free land, they would better know how to utilize & optimise their gains from whatver little they get here
its kinda like uprooting a plant from an arid soil & putting it in a well watered one..it blossoms with all its might(purely xerophobic plants not considered here)..the comparisond i've made are quite obvious

Where have you been?
There are many people from the ME in the US now. Right here in SE Michigan, we have the largest population of Arabs outside of the ME. All of them that I have met are hardworking people with joy in their hearts!
Get a life!
