Check to see that the drum can turn freely; it's possible that it has gotten caught on something. If it has gotten caught, it could have overheated the motor, and that in turn could have thrown the circuit breaker or blow the fuse.

If it won't heat, then there's a pretty good chance the heating element has gone out; that's probably something that just needs to be replaced. That's usually a very simple task, as the element usually just plugs into a sort of outlet INSIDE the dryer.

Most electric dryers have two circuits; one is for the heating element, and the other is for the motor that tumbles the clothing. If the dryer tumbles, but doesn't heat, then it's possible the heating element circuit breaker has been thrown. If the dryer doesn't tumble, then it would be the other circuit breaker (they're usually side-by-side in a breaker box) that has been thrown. If you have fuses, try replacing them, but stay close by in case they blow again. If one or the other does blow/trip again, then it's time to call a repairman.

The web site below has some good advice on trouble-shooting to do before you decide to throw in the towel and call a repairman.

roper is a low end dryer but a good one nevertheless. very simple to repair. is the door closing all the way? there is a switch that trips to allow it to run when you close the door. have it checked if you can't do it yourself. the belt? is there a loose electrical connection? the belt has a tensioner, has it jumped out of place? good luck.

What is dead? Does it tumble? Does it still heat? If it does tumble and does not heat, then you have a heating coil is bad. If it heats but not tumble, then you have a drum belt that is bad. Repair cost between $20-$100 for you to repair, service person, add another $50-$150+ to the parts above.
