Sometimes 'divertion' tactics can hide our own true identities?

If a guy hates gays, then he hates gays. The only difference is when he hates gays and then spends hours each night looking up gay related stuff on the internet. Straight guys wouldn’t do that, they’d have better things to so with their time. They’d be out with a girlfriend or they’d be looking up straight porn online.

If you look at some of the homophobes on this site you’ll see exactly what I mean. Some of them have answered 100’s of questions and most of their answers are in the gay section. If you have a closer look you’ll see the times and dates of their answers. That’s when you see they’re on here everyday looking at gay stuff. Be honest, would a straight guy really want to spend his time doing that?

I’m gay, but when I was younger I also hated everything to do with the gay world. I just wanted to be the same as all my mates. The reality was that I was a gay guy who couldn’t come to terms with it. I didn’t really hate gays, I hated myself and the feelings I didn’t want to have. So if a “straight” guy goes on and on and on about gays or if a homophobe on this site is sitting night after night after night looking up gay related stuff, then the answer is yes, he has problems coming to terms with his sexuality. It’s not rocket science, it’s just common sense.

Not necessarily.

People that hate any group are just filled with hate
and they divert their hatered it to the easiest target, or
to the thing they least understand.

There is denial in some cases, though.

I know some people that 'behave badly' towards
women or give the impression that they sleep with
lots of women all the time - some of these people
are gay, too.

Funny ol' world, innit.

Not all of them. I think most people who hate gays are scared of them, more than anything, either because they don't know anyone who is gay or they don't understand it. I am one of those people who believes that most gay people are born that way, and so I think of it as the same thing as someone being born with brown or blond hair. People who are not educated about it may think all kinds of crazy things. Some people hate gays because of religious reasons, but my beliefs say that God (or whoever you believe in) is loving, and doesn't hate anyone. But I am sure they are a population of people who hate and lash out against gays because of their own homosexual feelings, and they are ashamed or scared by them, or just plain don't understand. Ignorance breeds intolernace.

I don't hate Lesbians and Gay men but I feel very uncomfortable with them. To me it is totally unnatural. I think it is a fault placed in some of us by Mother Nature to ensure our numbers don't go too high. I am not a closet lesbian so have no need to use my beliefs as "diversion" tactics.

It would be too simple to say they're gay themselves, but I do think they're *afraid* they might be gay. Since *everyone* has got elements of both genders in them, psychologically as well as physically, the idea freaks them out and they turn that misplaced self-loathing onto real gay people.

Psychologists have found that those with VERY strong anti-gay feelings are probably gay themselves. (See Ted Haggard as one prime example)

I think that you may have a point. I believe that they may have had some gay feelings at some point and couldnt handle them and this is why they "hate" gays so much.
Then again, they may just be ignorant sods.

No they are sexually insecure and feel uneasy with something they do not understand or maybe they understand it too much u know what i am saying hehe. I learnt that in Psych that when people are insecure about something or cannot comprehend it they fear it and tend to end up hating it. GO figure

Do you think that people who hate Nazis wear SS uniforms in the privacy of their own homes?
Hatred is the purist of emotions as it lacks the ulterior motives associated with love and affection.

not necessarily. It could be that they don't understand about gays but then again they might be curious and are trying to find out about it so they can understand it, but then again they probably are gay.
