This is talking about light and darkness in relation to the Earth. Of course the Universe was formed first along with the billions of stars. Stay away from those pit bulls.

It depends on his powers, of which we know very little. We believe that god has infinite powers and can do anything. We may be making a mistake. Even god may be working with limitations and economy of some kind. He may be doing the best under the circumstances and situation at hand. He may not have a ready light source, and had to rely on a round about method of making the stars, sun and moon.
