Because its a player as u said and definetily not a writer.

Make sure that you have a DVD-RW. Not a DVD-ROM or a DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive. A DVD-ROM will only play DVDs and the same is true of the DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive. If it is a DVD-RW, then go to the device manager>DVD/CD-ROM Drives>then right tic on the drive that has the problem and select >uninstall>restart the computer. Let the drivers reload, then the drive should work normally again. Normal Hollywood movies are recorded with a security encoding CSS to prevent copying. There are programs that can remove the encoding. I won't tell you what they are here, but they are free and on the net. All you have to do is use your search engine and you can find them.

You get two kinds of DVD playback equipment - one that only plays back the DVDs you put in and the other kind that does that as well as help you copy them or record onto blanks. So maybe, the player you have is just that - a player. Check the manual/specs.

yes it is only dvd player you must buy dvd writer for dvd read and write
