The country we have now is what would be created if we didn't have it. There is no free speech in the media, which the media practically spews only propaganda and biased information.

There is no free speech when dissent have to consider retribution for what they say.

It depends on how we define the word "free".

In America, everything is basically free.

That word entices everyone to buy products. Consumerism is based on the word "free".

"Buy two, get one free."

Free speech, that's another thing.

I can write freely on Yahoo Answers. I don't get paid for it, I just do it because I've slept enough and it's too early to go to work.

What I write is subject to criticism and review. Should I exceed the boundaries, then I get repremanded.

In a free speech society, people can say practically anything they feel like saying, with limitations. Then laws set in, and then we can be subject to libel. At that point , free speech ends and lawsuits begin, and one can find themselves hung up in a court case.

And therefore, no society is truly totally free...free to say and write exactly what they feel. People get offended by what others say and write about them...and some people get very offended to the point of taking action.

In sum, no society will ever have pure and total free speech.

Limited and free is what we now have.

Free Speech gives us the right to voice our own opinions and point of views. Without free speech, we would probaly whisper our opinions or in our homes or minds, but it would mean we were goverened by an oppressing government. Free Speech is a vitality. Yes it does cause rebellion and revolution and can spread bad ideas as well as brilliant ideas. Free Speech is just something we need.

Most probably the country of HELL. :>) Have you ever known anyone who would not want to be heard? Or better yet, be able to defend their beliefs? Gosh, I can't imagine a country like that. It would be awful. I would say this though, there wouldn't be any protesting in the streets, that's for sure. People would have to say it to themselves and not to the government on the front lawn of Capitol Hill.

If we didn't have free speech, we would be Communists. Free speech is probably the most important right we could have. George W. Bush is trying to take it away from us by illegal phone taps and ethnic profiling. Hooray for free speech.

When the children communicate with free speech.
We listen to their sorrows.
If they don't communicate how do we know what went wrong out there in planet of apes?
Look at the mess being created until they brought it out into the streets with their web-size growing by the day and getting out of control in planet of apes.
Once it's out of control who is going to clean up the mess in planet of apes.
Look at the living examples expose in Afganistan and Iraq in planet of apes.
See how the mess was created while we bash up one another who is living human kind like ourselves like a cave-men in planet of apes?
Let them beat the tin cans and we listen and try to solve their misery for them in planet of apes.
How can we expect the young ones to solve their misery when they don't have the knowledge to overcome even if they were educated idiots in planet of apes?
