It's possible that you may either have faulty RAM or, managed to contract the HaxDoor virus. As it's only when installing updates / media player, I would say it was probably the virus route.

If you go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903251 then there's a solution there :-)

Unfortunately, it's a bugger to get rid of. If you don't want to go down the reinstallation route, then that KB article will help but, you will STILL need the Windows XP installation disc to do it.

Hope you get it sorted :-)

1. What PC is this happening on?

2. What Windows operating system does it run?

3. Do you have the actual Windows operating system install disk?

4. Have you created a system restore point on this PC?

Get back w/ me on this. Thanks.

try re installing the windows boot disc that came with your computer. Use a good anti virus like avast.com and scan your entire computer for hidden viruses. avast finds any and every virus in computers.

This looks very much like you have a virus. (Search for "lzx32.sys" on Google - virtually every hit refers to a virus).

Do a full virus scan of your computer.
