I always thought it was to hide his weak chin. People still wear them because they are easier to shape that way.
Just lay the scissors at a diagonal to the center of the bottom, do the same on the other side, et voila.
Plus i think some of them secretly get off to looking like all those devil pictures.

Jamie Foxx and others look O.K. in a goatee. And I prefer calling it a Chaplin 'stache. Satan is often portrayed as having the legs and hooves of a goat, so a goatee makes him look more sinister.

Well for starters goatees are pimptacular!!! Anyhoo, Hitler was an evil man who should have never been born, and Satan doesn't exist except for in stupid religious people's minds, and South Park episodes.

Hitler on the other hand was seen and still is seen by millions. By his pictures of course.
Goatee's are very nice on some guys, but a Hitler mustache, nope, no thanks.

Its probably because the idea of Satan was created from hades where the idea of him and hell being below the earth came from. And Pan a half man half goat satyr. In fact the word Satan comes from the word Satyr. Just one of a trillion reasons atheists can't understand why people believe in religion still.
