I know only time will tell, and this could go either way, but how would you react if you lived there?

venezuela is heading down a path for dictatorship and a communism-like economy. he is already trying to disrupt the world market by an embargo on their oil. people in venezuela need to be weary.

Here's one thing I totally dislike at Chavez:the fact that he wants to be president for the rest of his life.I think that most of the times history has shown us that the dictatorship doesn't work anymore...
Anyway,unfortunately ,probably we won't see elections in Venezuela... :(
I know how it is when one single man has full control of everything that happens in the state and it's the worst thing that could happen.So although I might agree with many of the things Chavez does and says,I think that when it comes to be president for the rest of his life,Chavez is totally wrong...

Chavez will find some reason to keep in power. Maybe he'll declare martial law or a state of emergency. He is a megalomaniac and won't give up power easily.

If I were a poor Venezuelan, and the majority of Venezuelans are very poor, I would not live anywhere else as long as Chavez is Venezuela's president.

Just like any tin horn dictator, he has promised a world of luxury, at the expense of foreign developers, to every citizen in his country. They may have fair elections in 20 years or so unless Chavez is either assassinated or killed in a mysterious plane crash enroute to Cuba.
