How old is she? If the doctor says she is fine and you would trust the opinions of strangers on the Internet over his/her assessment, than perhaps a second opinion is in order.
My daughter started when she was ten just like I did. For the first 3-4 months she would spot. For the next year after that she would flow every other month or so. Now that she is 17 she has normal cycles complete with normal PMS emotions!
I hope this helps some what.

If it's her first time then she's fine. I spotted for a few months before I got my first menstrual cycle.
If she's been menstruating for a while and is now having some irregular spotting, then it is probably a hormonal imbalance. I had that happen to me last year and the doctors had to put me on hormones to correct the cycle, then birth control pills to keep my cycle regular from that point on. Either way, it's not a big deal.

First of all how old is she. At times when a girl first gets a minstrel cycle it will not be a “regular flow”. Her body may be gearing up to start a regular cycle, usually girls cycles do not become regular for up to a year or so. You have spoken with a doctor, and they didn’t have a worry, you should do the same thing. Just talk with her so she isn’t scared about the situation, and have her carry feminine hygiene products with her so she isn’t caught unprepared.

I dont know, but is it just me that finds that it is weird that you added that she has never been abused like its a common every day thing that happens to people?
IF the docor has checked her out and says that she is fine i would go with that, her body might just be preparing itself for its first cycle, if you are really worried get a second opinion from a different doctor.
How does your daughter feel about it?

I didn't start until i was 16, just because I was in sports and very active, i.e. really good physical shape. It happens, and its not a problem, in face, when she finally does start I can gaurantee that she wishes she hadn't!
